A charter ordinance exempting the City of Iola, Kansas, from the provisions of section 2 of 1989 House Bill 2454, relating to natural gas pipeline inspection and maintenance and providing substitute and additional provisions on the same subject.

Section 1. - [City exempted from K.S.A. 66-1,157a.]

The City of Iola, by the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas hereby elects to exempt itself and make inapplicable to it Section 2 of 1989 House Bill 2454 [K.S.A. 66-1,157a] which applies to this city, but is part of an enactment that does not apply uniformly to all cities.

Section 2. - [Ordinance provisions authority.]

The Governing Body may provide by ordinary ordinance for the means of repairing gas pipelines, and for the methods of requiring payment of the costs thereof, whether performed by the city or otherwise.
